Tips for choosing healthy breakfast cereals
Need some additional pointers? We have you covered. Here are a few tips we wish to share with you when looking for a healthy breakfast cereal;
Always compare the 100g quantity between products, not the per serve, as this varies from cereal to cereal.
Try to choose cereals that contain less than 10g of sugar per 100g. If the cereal has low fibre content, make sure there is less than 2g per 100g.
Your daily recommended intake of fibre is 25-30g per day – which is loads! Majority of Australian’s do not meet their requirements. Breakfast is a great time to get a good dose of fibre. A ‘good source’ of fibre is recognised by FSANZ to be between the values of 4g to 7g per 100g.
Add your own fruit to your morning cereals, as opposed to buying the ones with added fruit. You will then know exactly what “added” sugar you are consuming.
Breakfast. Is it REALLY the most important meal of the day? Wellness or Wankery?
